Citizen science for a sustainable B-30 territory
CCS-B30 is a citizen science project led by Liven Lab that promotes a just and sustainable transition by actively involving schools and local communities in the B-30 territory. The project seeks to empower citizens—starting with children and youth—to become agents of change through participatory environmental research and education.
Main activities
- School-based citizen science projects focused on sustainability, addressing topics such as water use, organic waste management, and composting.
- Training programs for teachers in citizen science methodologies and sustainability practices.
- Creation of a hybrid exchange hub to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing between schools, municipalities, and the UAB.
Innovation
CCB30 follows a participatory, co-creation approach, engaging students, educators, municipal technicians, and researchers in the design and implementation of sustainability actions.
- Schools collect real environmental measurements (water and waste) to inform decisions.
- Impact is assessed through surveys conducted before and after the interventions.
- Results are shared openly, including guides, reports, and databases, to enable broader learning and application.
Target audience
- Primary and secondary school students
- Teachers and municipal staff
- Local citizens and social actors in the B-30 area
